History

2012 The Marzotto family buys all shares of Santex Holding and becomes sole shareholder of the Santex Group. Marzotto is a world leader in the textile industry; it has a high and visible profile from yarns to fabrics. The Marzotto Group operates in the textile sector with prestigious brands that make it a major player in terms of quality, quantity and R&D on world fabric and yarn markets.

2011 Santex Holding announces the acquisition of Isotex Engineering. This Italian Company was founded in 1957 and is leader in coating, printing and embossing machinery and lines. Customers of Isotex cover a wide range of applications including air bags, fibre glass, adhesives and tarpaulin.

2005 - 2008 Santex consolidates its European operations, concentrating them at the manufacturing site in Tobel, Switzerland. The service centre for South Asia is moved from Bangalore to Coimbatore, India.

2005 Santex Group opens its own manufacturing facility in Shanghai, China. SANTEX (SHANGHAI) TEXTILE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Santex Shanghai quickly grows to manufacture the complete range of knitwear finishing textile machines.

1986 Santex machines conquer the markets. The rapid expansion calls for additional resources and the company grows quickly also in the United States, where it sets up a service base in Greensboro, NC.

1990 - 2000 Santex becomes a world market player. Its range of product includes now not only finishing machines but also specialized machine ranges for nonwovens.

The 90’s are years of extraordinary growth. Various companies are brought together to give birth to the “Santex Group”.

1994 - 1996 The acquisitions of Caratsch Maschinenbau AG in 1994 and of Villars AG in 1996 form the foundation of a new area in the field of machines and plants for technical textiles. These two companies are merged together in 1996 to form CAVITEC, standing for “CAratsch VIllars TEChnology”, located in Münchwilen. Under the brand name CAVITEC all machines are designed, produced and sold to the world market from Tobel Switzerland.

2000 The last of the acquisitions comes in 2000 with the merger with SperottoRimar, which had meanwhile set foot in Asia by starting its own subsidiary in Bangalore, India, in 1997.

1982 Three men start a small company in Tobel, Switzerland, with the idea of building finishing machines specialised for knitted fabrics.

The three pioneers are Edgar Konzett, Bruno Frick and Christian Strahm. They call the company “Santex” after the name of Strahm's daughter, Sandra, born in the same year. The concept proves to be a winning one and Santex starts to grow, soon to become the world leader in knitted goods finishing machines. Just one year later the first Santashrink relax belt dryer is presented at ITMA Milan, Italy.

1981 Sperotto and Rimar merge to form SperottoRimar, and located in Malo, Italy.

1964 Giannino Marzotto founds Rimar, which stands for Ricerche (Research) Marzotto, in the town of Trissino, Italy. Its initial task is to serve as a dedicated research centre for the Marzotto textile group. The company soon develops original solutions in the fields of weight reduction and dry cleaning of synthetic fabrics.

1963 Hans Peter Caratsch founds Caratsch AG in Bremgarten, Switzerland, and pioneers many original machines and technical textile processes. The first ranges for pre-impregnation of composites, so called prepregs, are soon developed.

1949 Giuseppe Sperotto starts repairing, and soon after, manufacturing wool finishing machines in Schio, Italy. The company “Sperotto” quickly becomes well-known in the field of wool finishing. Italy and its famous wool industry is the fertile ground in which the successful future of these specialised machines is established.

Shandong Lawrance
doubles production with Santex

Founded in 2003, Shandong Lawrance Textile Co., Ltd, is a member of the Ajlan & Bros. Holding Company, and occupies over 933,000 m2 of land within the city of ZaoZhuang, Shandong Province.Shandong Lawrance currently has a capacity of over 6.5 million garments per month, mainly in 100% cotton men’s and women’s inner wear and ‘T’ shirts.

Production at Shandong Lawrance was significantly reduced in 2009 due to the financial crisis, but they have since returned to a strong position, deciding to make further investments to double their capacity. Their main markets are abroad and they are very much committed to the requirements of the World Environment Organization, environmental responsibility and management, and have been awarded both Oeko-Tex 100 and 1000 certificates.

Quality, Productivity and Energy Saving were all factors in Shandong Lawrance finalizing orders in May for 10 finishing machines from Santex, consisting of:
- 2 x Santastretch Plus -De-watering, softening
- and overstretching machines.
- 2x Santashrink -Relax and shrink dryers.
- 6x Santaspread TS - Tubular compacting
- machines.

According to Mr. Ahmed Gaber, General Manager of Shandong Lawrance:
“Although the initial investment costs are higher when compared with other machine manufacturers we are very much convinced that going with Santex is the right decision. We are producing mainly for export and therefore the quality requirements, such as residual shrinkage etc, are very high. This we can only get with the best finishing machines. Also the energy savings that the Santex dryers offered was a major factor in our choice.” Santex Group is honoured to be awarded this order from Shandong Lawrance Textile Co., Ltd, and the opportunity to work together for the successful realization of the project.

Review Santex Group at the ITMA Asia 2014

Santex Group Successful at ITMA Asia 2014

The international trade fair in Shanghai was able to welcome around 100,000 visitors from 102 countries this year. That was a 7% increase over 2012. With the Santex, Cavitec, Isotex and SperottoRimar brands, the Santex Group was able to showcase its new developments to Chinese and international clientele. The crowd of Chinese customers at the Santex stand was very gratifying and quite a bit larger than in 2012.

At ITMA Asia, Santex showcased the Energy Saving Chamber (ESC) for the first time in China. This module can be added to both new and existing Santashrink Dryers. The benefit of the ESC is that it reduces energy consumption by around 15-20%. Accordingly, both Chinese and international clientele expressed considerable interest. The Energy Saving Chamber is also produced at the Santex plant in Qingpu, China and is offered in China.

Santex Group is active in Division 2: Textile Machines and Technical Textile Machines. In the area of textile machines, Santex were able familiarize customers with their latest developments for  finishing  cotton knitwear and cotton blends and SperottoRimar Italy for processing wool and wool blends. Interesting, high-level technical discussions with specialists were possible.

The extensive range of machines from Cavitec for coating and laminating using Hot Melt Technology also aroused great interest. International clientele were especially interested in the Cavimelt and the Cavi2Coat. Breathable textiles coated and laminated with special membranes were an important topic for some customers, and lively discussions were conducted about additional applications in the automotive and medical industries. There was a surprising amount of interest in composite machines for impregnating carbon or glass for Prepregs, and high-level discussions proved possible.  Isotex, with its modern coating, laminating and embossing lines, met with interest among customers from China and other Asian countries.
